The ISO 16890:2016 standard of Air filters for general ventilation is a standard established on the basis of existing criteria of EU and US to determine the particulate matter gravimetric efficiency of air filters for PMx. The standard considers that the aerodynamic equivalent diameter can be regarded as equivalent to the optical equivalent diameter within a given particle size range. Based on this, using the aerosol fractional efficiency of air filter and the mathematical model of the standard volume distribution of the ambient air particles, obtains the gravimetric efficiency for PMx by calculation. EU even prepares to replace EN 779 with ISO 16890. Discusses the related issues of the ISO 16890:2016 standard and proposes some opinions and suggestions on the formulation of relevant standards in China.
